I am a dumb agnostic
~ Norman

I am so dumb I do not believe in virgin births.
I do not think a man can walk on water.
I don't believe a man can rise from the dead.
I never saw a snake that could talk.
If God made the world, then who made God?
No one ever answered my prayers when I needed it.
I am so dumb I doubt that wine can be made from water.
I can't see 5000 being fed with a couple loaves of bread.
How can Darwin be wrong with a thousand proofs?
I am so stupid I think the Bible is only fairy tales.
I do not believe that Jonah swallowed the whale.
I did not believe Jack and the bean stalk either.
I asked my doctor why we are here and he did not know.
It seems obvious that men wrote every Bible story.
I would need more evidence to believe in Noah's ark.
I am so dumb I believe it is easy to write miracle stories.
Where was God when I was a soldier in World War II.
I am so dumb I do not believe in Aladins magic carpet.
The Bible is written by men and read by stupid me.
Too many men have claimed to be the son of God.
If Jesus is the son of God then so am I.
I am an agnostic and my favorite saying is "I don't know."

SciPan Footprints
~ Eljay

One night a man had a dream. He dreamed he was walking along th beach with a friend. Across the sky flash scenes from his life. For each scene he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand: one belonging to him, and the other to his friend.

When the last scen of his life flashed before him, he looked back at the footprints in the sand. He noticed that many times along the path of his life there was only one set of footprints. He also noticed that it happend at the very lowest and saddest times in his life.

This really bothered him, and he questioned his friend about it. "Friend, you said that once I decided to follow you, you'd walk with me all the way. But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life, there is only one set of footprints. I don't understand why when I needed you most you would leave me.

His friend replied: "My friend. During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints. It was then that I was the beach you trod upon. Yet I bore you even as you trod upon me, without complaint. I nurtured you, for I am the cosmos, and you are an inextricable part of me."

SciPan Serenity Prayer
~ Eljay
(aknowledgements to Reinhold Neibuhr)

May I listen, learn, and acquire
the Serenity to accept the things I cannot change.
Courage to change the things I can,
and the Wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Undertaking hardship to build
the pathway to peace.

Understanding this marvelous world
as it is, not as I would have it.
Working to make all things right,
to impart reason, and alleviate ignorance.

That I may be reasonably happy in this life,
by eliminating those things that create misery,
and assuage any suffering around me.
So be it. Peace and joy.

Gullibility
~ anon

The other day, upon a stair,
I met a man who wasn't there.
He wasn't there again today;
To his Glory let us pray.

Yesterday, upon the stair,
I met a man who wasn't there.
He's not been there a day or three,
I think he's from the EAC!

I asked another if he saw
the little man, he answered "Naw."
I've proved it true, I'm satisfied --
he can't be seen! I haven't lied!

And A Meadow Lark Sang
~ Ravindra Kumar Karnani
(This poem was originally written in the Hindi language.)

The child whispered, 'God, speak to me'
And a meadow lark sang.
The child did not hear.

So the child yelled, 'God, speak to me!'
And the thunder rolled across the sky
But the child did not listen.

The child looked around and said,
'God let me see you' and a star shone brightly
But the child did not notice.

And the child shouted,
'God show me a miracle!'
And a life was born but the child did not know.

So the child cried out in despair,
'Touch me God, and let me know you are here!'
Whereupon God reached down
And touched the child.

But the child brushed the butterfly away
And walked away unknowingly.
